Faith in Action Sunday
April 18, 2010

On Sunday, April 18th, the Colchester Community United Methodist Church of Downsville "left the building" as part of the Faith in Action Sunday of The United Methodist Church. 27 members donned work clothes and set out into the community to perform various acts of kindness as witness to their faith. The morning began with a brief worship service led by Rev. Dale Ashby, Pastor of CCUMC. The congregation then broke into 3 groups - one group visited the Roscoe Nursing home, one group helped take large items to the transfer station for folks who didn't have any other way to do that and one group cleared debris from the roadways as a reminder that we are all responsible to take care of God's world. Afterward, the group returned to the church for a closing prayer and a time of fellowship. Despite the chilly weather, all the members reported a "heart-warmed" morning of blessings on both the participants and those who benefited from the Faith in Action activities.
